WW: Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Action-driven 3-D sequel is an icy treat for young kids.

New Christmas Movie: Gotta Catch Santa Claus

With less than 100 days to Christmas (we can almost hear the jingles!) we're obligated to share the new Santa movie for 2009!

Lionsgate releases an all-new CGI animated feature Gotta Catch Santa Claus, starring William Shatner as the voice of Santa. When a friend starts to doubt the idea of Santa Claus, 12 year old Trevor sets out on a mission to catch old St. Nick in order to prove his existence and put the skeptics to rest. Apparently, there are also bad guys trying to catch Santa too...

Check out this short trailer.

It is definitely going to be a fun family night watching it!

Book Review: Baby's Binky Box

It's been awhile since we did a book review, and we're glad we finally got a chance to do one today! “Baby’s Binky Box” is an adorable book, set to capture your hearts. Thinking of taking your child's binky (pacifier) away? Do it in an organized manner!

Baby’s Binky Box” is an adorable book that is also an instructional guide to taking away baby’s binky. The book tells the story of Binky and his best friend baby. Eventually Binky gets tired and asks for baby to make him his own bed which is the “Binky Box.” In the end both baby and Binky are happy and sleeping peacefully but separately.

Here are some activities we suggest you could do with your child after reading:
  • Have a discussion with your child about how her binky was getting tired and wanted a bed of his own.

  • Create a binky box together with your child. Get your child to decorate it, and provide a mattress for her/his binky to sleep on.

Baby’s Binky Box” makes a fabulous book for any child with a binky problem. Have you given it a try? Share with ur your own binky problems!

Turn a Glass of Water Upside Down Without Spilling a Drop!

Can't keep the kids interested in water? Has the tried and true thirst quencher lost its pizzazz? Turn things upside down for a real jaw-dropper!

Fill your glass up to the very top with tap water. The water should come right up to the lip of the glass.

With a flourish, cover the glass with the card. Make eye contact, and pause to build suspense.

Holding the card in place, turn the glass upside down.

Carefully remove your hand, leaving the card in place.

Hold the water over your head if you dare! The card stays put, and the water stays inside the glass, even though its upside down!

  • Attach glow-in-the-dark stars to the ceiling and walls.
  • Play a nighttime nature sounds CD.
  • Swim in your bathtub!

Magic Finger Optical Illusion

This simple optical illusion is a great distraction, and all you need is fingers and a blank wall.
  1. Have the kids look at a blank wall. It should be at least six feet away.

  2. Then they should hold their arms out in front of them and bend their wrists, so their two index fingers are pointing at each other. Tell them to keep focused on the wall and bring their fingers together.

  3. A floating finger should appear between their two index fingers!

Pierce a Balloon with a Needle without Popping It

Blow up your balloon, conceal a stamp-sized piece of tape on the index finger of your left hand. When the balloon is passed back to you, discreetly place the tape on the balloon, near the neck.

Hold the needle up, pause for effect. Place the needle in the center of the tape. Push the needle in far, and remove. Volia!

The tape provides strength to the wall of the balloon and protects it from getting destroyed.
